Barbie

Barbie, all the girls wanna be her and all the guys want her. Barbie has been the Ideal image for woman since the 50's. Barbie has everything, a hot boyfriend, a sportscar, dozens of friends. She also has been everything, a doctor, a veterinaran, a gymnist. But what people dont really know is if they really wanted to be barbie they would have to be 6 ft tall, have 37 FF breasts, a waist of 18 in and 4 ft long legs. If  Barbie was real, she would have to walk on all fours, just to be able to get around. That is why I am sculpting barbie as if she was real. Maybe people would get that they really do not wanna be like her

Rebecca Horn

Rebecca Horn's photos are beautiful in themselves, mostly the last one with her just standing there with her wings on her sides...this may sound morbid but it reminds me of something that would be in Silent Hill.  my favorite one is the hoop skirt that is on wheels. I love that she created that to show how woman are still lower in society compared to men and how our bodies are constricted by out clothes. I mean she cant even walk and she also sometimes cant control where the the hoop skirt goes.

Robert Gober

Robert Gober is just plain weird. Odd, but very interesting.  His work makes me thing of people that used to be there. Like spirits. The pieces are very eerie in a way. The top one, the chair with the breasts and the bird's nest is very interesting. Its as if the chair is a mother and the nest is it womb. Its beautiful. The wedding dress picture on here reminds me of a bride that died on her wedding night and is just standing there waiting for her fiance to find her. Its quite sad. Robert Gobers work is amazing and I absolutely love it. He is now one of my favorite artists. I do hope I get to see more of his work.

Nick Cave

I love these costumes. They are like life size muppets. But scarier. I love how the art is not the costume but the picture of the costume in motion. My favorite one is the first one I put on here. Its like something that would be a fairy tale monster. Maybe some kind of fairy or woodland creature that sneaks up behind you and kidnaps you without you even knowing what is happening.
I also love the last picture, it looks lke something that would be from a Dr. Suess book, like the Lorax. But a demented version of the Lorax. It is also oddly beautiful. yet scary

Very First Painting

I have never painted before. Ever..well except the paint by numbers and such when i was a kid. But now I have decided to teach myself how to paint and I am using acrylic paint on a medium sized canvas. I have a thing for super mario so I drew a giant Goomba about to smash mario, and mario is running away, and in the background is the typical mario background.  I am hoping that this painting turns out because this would be a very cool painting. I am a total nerd.

Art Museum on 10/25

I invited my friend to go to the BAM with me last Monday, because he had never been to it, and I had to go because I have to do a 4 page paper on two of the artists. When we got there we went straight to the triennial and there were a lot of great artists in there. My favorite is by Pamela deTuncq and it is called 40 days and 40 nights. It is all crosses made out of random objects, like pill holders, toy snakes, and aspirin. Just to name a few. There is a room in the BAM that I absolutely, it feels like a room of just modern art and I love it. There is a table in the middle of that room and it has a crocheted blanket type thing with crocheted skulls all around it. Its awesome. All in all, the art museum was fun.
